Feds Overrule State DEC; Greenlights Gas Pipeline To Middletown Plant

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has thrown out a New York state Department of Environmental Conservation decision to deny a water quality permit on Friday. The ruling will allow construction to commence on a gas pipeline that will connect to the CPV Valley Energy Center in Middletown, according to the Times Herald-Record.

The FERC has overruled the state DEC regarding a natural gas pipeline connecting to the CPV Valley Energy Center.

The FERC said the New York State DEC waived its right to deny the permit because it failed to act within a year of Millenium Pipeline Company's application, the Record reported.

Construction could begin as early as November, the Record said.
