West Point Football Destroys Fordham Without Completing A Pass

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The West Point football team piled up more than 500 yards of offense en route to a 64-6 win over Fordham in Michie Stadium on Friday. Perhaps even more impressive is the Black Knights did this without completing a pass.

Quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw and running back Darnell Woolfolk executed Army's triple-option offense to near perfection, combining for 272 yards on 19 attempts and three touchdowns. In all, 15 different players carried the ball for the Black Knights on Friday night.

"“I’m proud of our team. It was a well-played game for the most part. We had some mistakes that we will talk about, but I was particularly proud of the way we stopped the run, a really good running back and ran the ball effectively," Head Coach Jeff Monken said after the game. "Those are things that we talk about as a program in terms of our philosophy and how you win, and I believe in those things. Stopping the run and running the ball are important, and we were able to do that tonight."

The Rams, down 21-0, looked to get back into the game in the second quarter when a long drive ended with a blocked field goal that was returned for a touchdown. Fordham managed to find the end zone later in the second quarter, but the Rams defense couldn't stop Army's offensive machine.

“I thought we did a good job down the middle with the center, the guards and the inside run game. We got that going early, and I really think we got a good group of guys up front," Monken said. "We have some veteran guys that have played with some confidence. I think they are just tough, play hard and they did a good job tonight."

The Black Knights will look to improve to 2-0 next week when they host the University at Buffalo on Sept. 9 at noon.
