World Class Bike Race, Family Fest Coming To Rockland

The most spectator friendly of all bike racing, cyclocross challenges racers with a closed course that includes pavement, gravel, and grass surfaces. Manmade barriers and natural obstacles force riders to dismount, run and then remount their bike in one continuous motion multiple times per lap.

And if the weather is wet and muddy, the place to watch will be the pits where mechanics will be waiting with freshly cleaned spare bikes as racers tear in to make the high-speed exchanges as many as two times per lap.

The RCC course has quickly made a name for itself as one of the best in the country. Calling all the action from the announcer's booth will be legendary Tour de France racer, Frankie Andreu.

During all the action, visitors who have worked up an appetite will find plenty of food trucks offering everything from waffles with ice cream to grilled cheese and more.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, and Sunday, Nov. 19, at the college at 145 College Road, Suffern.
