Theodore Edwards, 50, was sentenced Thursday, by Orange County Court Judge Nicholas De Rosa, for one count of sex trafficking, involving four women.

The charges stemmed from allegations that between August 1, 2015, and March 17, 2016, Edwards kidnapped or unlawfully imprisoned four different women at 222 Broadway in the City of Newburgh, subjecting them to assaults and other physical abuse, and forced them to perform sex acts on him, and in the case of three victims, other individuals as well, Assistant District Attorney Christopher Borek said.

Edwards posted ads featuring the opportunity to have sex with three of the victims on an internet site. He pleaded guilty to the felony crime of sex trafficking in October.

“Sex trafficking is a particularly heinous crime,” said Hoovler. “The community will be safer during the time that this defendant is incarcerated. Cases which involve multiple victims are particularly heinous. We must all support those who are the victims of violent sexual abuse. My office will continue to seek lengthy state prison sentences for violent sexual offenders.”

This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jessica Dovico and Assistant District Attorney Christopher Kelly.
