Police have identified the two people killed in a fiery crash in Jackson over the weekend.
Denis Ricardo Zelaya Zapata, 29, of Toms River, was behind the wheel of a black 2023 Toyota Highlander that had struck a tree on Hyson Road and become fully engulfed in flames just after 12 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, Police Lt. Edward Travisano said. Edwin Ramon Montolla Padilla, 36, of Paterson, was in the passenger's seat, police said.

Clearview High School track coach Thomas "Tom" Hengel, 72, was behind the wheel of a 2020 Hyundai Palisade, with his wife Lisa Hengel, 61, in the passenger seat, when the vehicle accelerated, struck a curb, crossed two front yards, and crashed into the side of a home on Banff Drive with enough force to go through the wall and into the home’s living room around 6:15 p.m., local police said.
