John Seres, 84, Of Bridgeport BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – John Seres, of Bridgeport, died on Friday, March 11, at Bridgeport Hospital. He was 84. Seres was born in Bridgeport to John D. and Stephanie Picory Seres.  He served in the Navy during the Korean War. After his military service he worked as a carpenter, cabinet maker, and construction worker. Seres was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Bishop Seres, A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport. Post online condolences here.

Mamaroneck HS Relay Team Sets 4X800 Record MAMARONECK, N.Y. – The Mamaroneck High School girls 4x800 relay team won the national championship and set multiple records at the New Balance Armory in New York City on Saturday night. The team -- seniors Shari Rauls, Lauren Chapey, Katie DeVore and sophomore Lauren Shpiz -- ran a time of 8:58.86, which was the seventh-fastest time in American high school history. The time also broke school, county, sectional and state records. DeVore set a personal record of 2:08 in the anchor leg to win the first national championship in Mamaroneck girls track history.

Police Investigate Shooting Near Super 8 Motel In Central Nyack CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. – Clarkstown police are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon on Upper Depew Avenue in Central Nyack near the Super 8 Motel. Police received a 911 call from a 20-year old man who said he'd been shot while he was walking in the area of the motel. When officers got to the area, he was found bleeding from the mouth. He was transported to Nyack Hospital, and his injuries were apparently not life-threatening. The Detective Bureau is still investigating the incident.
