Norwalk Cal Ripken All-Stars Visit Senior Center Prior To State Tourney NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk Cal Ripken 11-year-old All-Star baseball players visited Autumn Lake Senior Center prior to play in the state tournament. The tournament is being played at Tim Devine Field, which is adjacent to the senior center. The seniors made a banner for the team. One senior center member spoke with the players about playing amid rocks and glass at Veterans Park in the 1950s, and watching Lou Gehrig and other Major League stars from the 1930s. 5 Wilton Running Club Athletes Qualify For Track National Championships WILTON, Conn. -- Five Wilton Running Club athletes qualified to compete in the National Junior Olympics Track and Field Championships to be held July 27-Aug. 2 in Jacksonville, Fla. Each athlete finished in the top at the USATF Region 1 Championship held at Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts. WRC qualifiers for the national meet are Kyle Dobson, Alex Brichkowski, Ashley Nicoletti, Flynn Crowther and Shelby Dejana. Former Sacred Heart AD From Fairfield Meets Challenge In Memory Of Son FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Saturday’s 10-mile bike ride in the CT Challenge in Fairfield will not ease the hurt in Don Cook’s heart. The 74-year-old former athletic director at Sacred Heart University could pedal 100, 1,000 or 1 million miles, and it would not diminish the pain he feels from the death of his son, Chris, last year from cancer. UMass Athlete From Greenwich Among Those Arrested In Stamford Attack GREENWICH, Conn. -- One of the Greenwich men arrested in the attack on a Darien man in Stamford early Saturday is a member of the football team at the University of Massachusetts. Richard Todd Stafford, 21, a graduate of Brunswick School, is a redshirt sophomore for the Minutemen. Stafford red-shirted as a freshman in 2013. He saw action in one game last year.
