Who Are You Hugging For National Hugging Day, Greenburgh?
Reach out and hug someone on Thursday in honor of National Hugging Day, started 30 years ago by Kevin Zaborney of Michigan. Zaborney started the movement when he was just 24 years old and felt there wasn’t enough public displays of affection in the world. Since its Jan. 21, 1986 launch, others countries have joined in the hug-fest as well. Ridgewood Middle School Exceeds Goal, Collects 3,606 Pairs Of Socks
RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Thousands of new socks were recently donated to those in need thanks to collection efforts by middle school students in Ridgewood. Ben Franklin Middle School students took the weeklong "Rock Your Socks" challenge and collected 3,606 pairs of new socks for Covenant House. They far surpassed their goal of 2,000 socks in a week. The school's involvement came after Ridgewood High School accepted Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno's challenge and pledged 1,750 pairs of new socks, and in return challenged BFMS. FAIRVIEW, N.J. — Antonietta Anna Peluso, (nee Zarro) of Fairvew, died on Tuesday, Jan. 19. She was 74. She was born in Chianche, Avellino, Italy.
