Two arrests made in the village particularly stood out, said Osborn in his post, “The Chief’s Corner.” The first involved a man who, police said, went on an unprovoked rampage at a local church, beating an elderly employee and destroying a stained-glass window and other precious objects in its sanctuary. Ramapo Police Probe Cause Of Hillcrest House Fire RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police are investigating a possible suspicious fire that happened in the hamlet of Hillcrest on Monday. Police said the fire appears to have started in a bedroom closet in an apartment on Jefferson Avenue. The fire was contained to the closet area, police said. Yonkers Animal Shelter Seeks Owner Of Lost Chihuahua YONKERS, N.Y. -- A little Chihuahua mix found wandering in Yonkers Tuesday morning has been taken to a local animal shelter. According to a post on the Yonkers Animal Shelter’s Facebook page, the pup was found near Bruce and Lawrence streets. The shelter is asking anyone who recognizes the dog to call it at (914) 377-6730 during normal business hours, or (201) 981-3215 anytime. The shelter, located at 1000 Ridge Hill Road, is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week.

Suffern Police Pick Up Lost Pooch SUFFERN, N.Y. – It seems Suffern police have a soft spot for lost pooches. A little brown and white dog was picked up after it was found wandering around Oakdale Manor on Monday. Officers took the dog to the Hi Tor Animal Care Center in Pomona where it will – hopefully – be reunited with its owners.
