Wallington Hires New Grant Writer To Pursue Funds For Town
WALLINGTON, N.J. — A new grant writing firm was hired in Wallington to research and apply for federal monies the borough could be eligible for, reports northjersey.com. Bruno Associates replaces a previous firm whose contract had run out, according to northjersey.com. The cost of the grant services is not to exceed $24,000 annually and Mayor Mark Tomko wants the firm to meet will a town committees, including police, fire and EMS, reports northjersey.com. Lyndhurst Observatory Shuts Down For Repairs Until Further Notice
LYNDHURST, N.J. — The Meadowlands public observatory in Lyndhurst is shut down for repair work until further notice, northjersey.com reported. The William D. McDowell Observatory will no longer be open for public viewing on Wednesdays or other uses until the repairs can be done, according to northjersey.com. The $6.5 million observatory and telescope at DeKorte Park Plaza in Lyndhurst first opened in 2008 and was dedicated to William McDowell, who served as the first elected County Executive of Bergen County, northjersey.com says. Weston Police Promote Travis Arnette To Sergeant
WESTON, Conn. — A 12-year veteran with the Weston Police Department was sworn in as sergeant during a ceremony at Weston Town Hall's meeting room on Friday, Jan. 15. Travis Arnette replaces Mike Ferullo, who left last year for an assignment with the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. Sandy Hook Promise Program Aims To Reduce Social Isolation For Students

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — A pinewood derby will take off Saturday at St. Philip the Apostle Church in Saddle Brook. Totowa Recreation Department Plans Tubing Trip
TOTOWA, N.J. — Have fun in the snow with the Totowa Board of Recreation at one of the largest tubing parks in the country on Saturday, Feb. 13. A trip to Mountain Creek is planned with tubing time from 2-4 p.m. The bus leaves from the parking lot behind the Totowa Library at 12 p.m. and leaves Mountain Creek at approximately 4:30 p.m. Cost is $30 for those who tube; $10 for non-tubers.
