Officer Attacked At Green Haven Correctional Facility STORMVILLE , N.Y. – An officer was attacked May 19 by an inmate serving a life sentence for murder at the Green Haven maximum security prison, state police said. As prisoners were released for a morning run around 7:30 a.m., inmate Brandon Latson exited the tier near his cell and allegedly charged at a correction officer, police said.  Latson knocked the officer to the ground, and "viciously attacked the officer by striking him in the head and face with multiple closed fist punches," according to a police statement. Eastchester Fitness Challenge Raises Funds To Fight Pediatric Cancer EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Interact Club, a high school version of the Eastchester Rotary Club, is hosting an event to raise funds for Pediatric Cancer Research on June 4 and 5.The event is a fitness challenge to be held over two days at the New York Sports Club in Scarsdale. "914 FIT" will determine who has the best bench press, dips, pull-ups, vertical jump and stationary row in town. All those in the area can compete, as the NYSC will offer a day pass for any non-member. All proceeds will go to Memorial Sloan Kettering.
