Harold Wood, 96, Longtime Westchester Resident, Supreme Court Justice
SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Harold L. Wood, a longtime resident of the Westchester area, died in Florida on Thursday, April 14. He was 96.
Wood was born in Bridgeport, Conn., to Harriet Wood Bannister and James Wood. He graduated from Ossining High School and Lincoln University in Pennsylvania,
He served as a sergeant in the Army Air Corps at Tuskegee in Ala., and graduated from Cornell Law School and NYU.
Wood was president of the NAACP and went on to be elected to the Westchester County Board of Supervisors, the Mount Vernon City Council, served as a Westchester supervisor and as a judge for the W…
