Man Found Asleep At Wheel On I-87 In Westchester Charged With DWI
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – New York State Police arrested a man on DWI charges overnight Thursday after answering a call for a disabled vehicle on Interstate 87 in Tarrytown with the driver asleep at the wheel and the motor running, according to police. Troopers found 31-year old Joseph Berenguer of Poughquag inside his Honda Accord on the shoulder of I-87 near Exit 9 around 2:45 a.m., police said. Berenguer was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after he was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.019 percent, police said. The Metro-North engineer who fell asleep at the controls of a train, leading to its derailment and the death of four people in December 2013, has been awarded a federal railroad retirement pension, according to The Journal News. William Rockefeller, 48, will get regular payments through the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board due to an unspecified disability that has made it impossible for him to return to work, the Journal News reported. Man Claiming Wife In Labor Charged With Cocaine Possession On I-95
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – New York State Police charged a man with cocaine possession after a false call of a woman in labor on Interstate 95 overnight on Feb. 28, police said. Daniel Traisman, 30, of Greenwich, Conn., was arrested and charged with multiple offenses after troopers found his vehicle and he admitted making up the story to get faster service, police said. Dutchess County Executive Memorializes Poughkeepsie Councilman
DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. – Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro was just one of the many officials who paid tribute to Poughkeepsie City Councilman Tracy Hermann after his death on Thursday, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. Hermann died of an apparent heart attack at the age of 52, the Journal said. “He was a man who saw Poughkeepsie's potential and worked tirelessly to achieve it," Molinaro said in a statement, reported the Poughkeepsie Journal. Stamford's K.T. Murphy School Sponsors Multicultural Fair
STAMFORD, Conn. – Stamford's K.T. Murphy Elementary School will host its sixth annual multicultural fair on Saturday (today) until 2 p.m. in the school gymnasium. The annual event helps students understand various cultures, languages, foods and dances. This year will feature food tasting, live dance performances, and interactive displays from 19 counties.
