Register Now For Winter Swim Lessons In Lyndhurst
LYNDHURST, N.J. — Registration for winter swim lessons is in progress at the Lyndhurst Parks Department. It is open to residents and nonresidents. Classes will be taught by Bergen County Swim America. Registration forms and payment are only accepted at the Parks Department and will not be accepted at the pool. Swim America lessons are designed to teach all the swimming skills a child needs to be safe in and around the water for a lifetime. Safety skills are a big focus. HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Litigants in Bergen County can make use of a supervised play area in the courthouse where they may drop off their children during their court proceedings. The Children’s Court Care Center is staffed by volunteers from The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) as well as two full time court employees. Children as young as a few weeks old up to age 10 are welcome. Older children can also be accommodated by request. The center opened in 1998 as the first of its kind in New Jersey. RUTHERFORD, N.J. —English language learners are invited to attend the weekly English Conversation Group at the Rutherford Public Library. The group will resume meeting Thursday, Jan. 21 and will meet from 10-11:30 a.m. Mondays and 1-2:30 p.m. Thursdays. North Salem Recreation Offers Skiing Lessons And Trips
NORTH SALEM, N.Y. — Youth ski and snowboarding trips and lessons are being planned by the North Salem Recreation Department starting in January. This five-week program is for students in grades three through 12. Lessons are for skiers in third grade and up; second-grade students may attend if a parent goes every week. Norwalk Police: Man In Santa Hat Scared Kids With Pitch For Cleaning
NORWALK, Conn. — One man was arrested after officers responded to a complaint that two men in Santa and antler hats had approached children getting off a school bus on Golden Hill Street on Wednesday, police said. The men asked the kids to have their parents come out of their houses to watch a cleaning demonstration, police said. The children quickly left and told their parents, who called police. Pelham BJ's Employee Jailed For Allegedly Stabbing Co-worker
PELHAM, N.Y. — A BJ's employee is behind bars after being accused by police of stabbing a co-worker in the neck, back and legs while at the Pelham warehouse, reports lohud.com. Orlando Johnson, 26, of the Bronx, faces first-degree assault charges for allegedly pulling a knife on the victim and inflicting serious injuries, said lohud.com. Danbury Man Arrested In Wilton On DUI, Cocaine Charges
WILTON, Conn. — Cocaine was reportedly found in the car of a 51-year-old Danbury man, who was charged by police on Monday with driving under the influence, reports the Wilton Bulletin. Carlos Ayala, 51, was accused of possession of 0.9 grams of suspected cocaine after he was pulled over by Wilton Police for reportedly driving erratically on Route 7 North and New Street just past Norwalk, said wiltonbulletin.com. New Officers Welcomed By New Rochelle Police Department
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Eleven new police officers joined the ranks of the New Rochelle Police Department on Dec. 18. The officers were welcomed at the Westchester County Police Academy graduation. After 20 weeks of training at the academy in Valhalla, they were handed their diplomas during a ceremony at Purchase College. Two members were recognized with awards.
