RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — What warrants a conflict of interest is on the minds of Ridgewood council members pondering if a member should vote on matters where her own sons are involved, northjersey.com reported. Norma M. Murphy, 78, Of Leonia
LEONIA, N.J. — Norma M. Murphy (Maldonado), a longtime resident of Leonia, died Dec. 17 at the Jewish Home for Living in Rockleigh, N.J. She was 78. One of her most notable accomplishments was graduating from William Paterson College in 2002 with her bachelor’s degree. She received it a day before her 65th birthday, after starting her college education in 1978. Before retiring, she had been employed as a bookkeeper for several different companies. Glen Rock Girl Scout Earns Gold Award By Hosting Cultural Festival
GLEN ROCK, N.J. — A cultural festival created at a camp for special needs’ kids earned a Glen Rock high school junior a Girl Scout Gold Award. Ayano Endo hosted a cultural festival at Camp Acorn, a camp for children with special needs, completing at least 80 hours of work. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn and requires the completion of a leadership project. LODI, N.J. — A high school alumni breakfast is planned for Wednesday for college-aged students. Former students from Immaculate Conception High School are welcome to share a meal between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the school. For 100 years, Immaculate Conception High School has served young women from a variety of backgrounds who seek a college-preparatory education in a Catholic Christian Franciscan environment. Passaic County Holds Holiday Blood Drive In Paterson
PATERSON, N.J. — A holiday blood drive is planned for Tuesday at the Passaic County Department of Health in Paterson. The drive takes place from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. and will be held at the health department located at 401 Grand St. Anyone age 18 to 75 can donate without consent. Under 18 needs a guardian; over 75 needs a doctor’s note. Donors should let the clinician know how long its been since they’ve had any kind of vaccine, what medications they’re on and where they’re traveled abroad. Steve Harvey Makes Huge Gaffe, Crowning Wrong Miss Universe
And the winner of Miss Universe 2015 is… Oops. Wrong name. That’s what happened last night at the 2015 Miss Universe pageant when host Steve Harvey cheerfully crowned Miss Columbia Ariadna Gutierrez as winner. The rightful owner of the crown was actually supposed to be Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. Miss Columbia was the First Runner Up.
