Dutchess County Launches Contingency Plan In Wake Of TransCare Bankruptcy
DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. – Dutchess County has activated a contingency plan in the wake of TransCare Ambulance Services' bankruptcy on Wednesday, according to TWC News. The company served Pawling, Beekman, Washington, Wappinger, Beacon, Millbrook and Union Vale, TWC News noted. County Executive Marc Molinaro said a plan was put together in January as authorities became aware of the company's problems, reported TWC News. Read the TWC News article here.

Ramapo Police Coach Airmont Students In Fighting Bullying
RAMAPO, N.Y. – Ramapo police visited students in Airmont on Friday, holding an anti-bullying seminar that was led by K-9 Officer Andres Sanchez and Community Policing Officer Omar Olayan. Sanchez and Olayan talked about how to recognize bullying and cyberbullying and how best to respond. There was also a K-9 demonstration, led by Sanchez as he spoke about the day-to-day functions of the K-9 unit. Other than the seminar, police dealt with 152 calls for service on Friday. This included two fires, six arrests and eight accidents, one which had a minor injury.

Complex Storm System Expected To Impact Armonk This Week
While the area will deal with warmer-than-normal temperatures over the next couple of days, the National Weather Service is keeping an eye on a storm system that will affect weather overnight Tuesday through Wednesday. Current tracking is uncertain since the system is a few days away, so the type of precipitation expected and any accumulation is unknown at this point. For the moment, forecasts are showing a 60 percent chance of rain Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. Four Charged With Drug Possession In Orangetown Traffic Stop
ORANGETOWN, N.Y. – Four men were arrested and charged with drug possession by New York State Police officers in Orangetown during a High Avenue traffic stop on Feb. 19, authorities said. The four men arrested were: 52-year old Alan Salewski of Kingston; 27-year old Christian Nielsen of Valley Cottage; 24-year old Peter Lodini of Stony Point; and 24-year-old Padraig Burns of Nyack, police said. All four were charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree marijuana possession, according to police. Nyack Filmmaker Shoots Movie On Stonewall Riots
NYACK, N.Y. – A Nyack filmmaker will be shooting "SissyMan," a short that takes place during the Stonewall Riots of 1969, in the area this weekend, according to lohud.com. Joshua Atesh Litle came up with the idea after the image of two boys fighting after one calls the other a sissy popped into his head, said lohud.com. Rockland Man, 37, Charged With DWI After Two-Car Crash On I-87
CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. – A Rockland County man was arrested by New York State Police on Monday, Feb. 22 on drunk driving charges after a two-car crash on I-87 northbound near Exit 12. Thomas Pomponio, 37, of New City was arrested and charged with multiple violations after his Volkswagen rear-ended a Nissan and police found him to be intoxicated. Pomponio's blood alcohol content was 0.22, more than twice the legal limit, and police charged him with aggravated driving while intoxicated along with various traffic violations. Norwalk Man Charged In Westport Shoplifting
WESTPORT, Conn. – A Norwalk man was arrested by Westport police on Thursday in connection with multiple shoplifting incidents in January. Andre Fowler, 22, faces fourth-degree larceny charges stemming from shoplifting incidents in Westport on Jan. 19 and 21, where three pairs of boots were taken from a Theory store and merchandise was taken from a nearby J Crew store. Fowler was held on $1,500 bail and will appear in Norwalk Criminal Court on March 8.

Rockland Community College Opens Muslim Student Center
RAMAPO, N.Y. – Rockland Community College opened a Muslim student center Thursday with a ceremony attended by students and school officials, according to lohud.com. The school's Center for Muslim Life is intended to be both a gathering spot for Muslim students and for outreach toward others at the college, said lohud.com. There will also be a Muslim Student Association, led by student Sidra Ijaz, reported lohud.com. Monroe Police Arrest Two In Connection With November Burglary
MONROE, Conn. – Two brothers from Bridgeport face multiple charges in connection with a Nov. 1, 2015, burglary of a Monroe convenience store, according to the Connecticut Post. Jacob and David Dagley are facing charges of third-degree burglary, larceny and criminal mischief stemming from the burglary of the FM One Stop in Monroe, the Post said. The pair were served on warrants at Monroe Superior Court on an unrelated issue, reported the Connecticut Post. Rats Spotted At Westlake Middle School
THORNWOOD, N.Y. – Two rats were spotted during the day Tuesday by students and faculty at Westlake Middle School in Thornwood, according to multiple reports. A custodian saw a rat in a school hallway, and another was sighted in the school cafeteria, escaping behind a vending machine, lohud.com said.
