Police Dish Out Nearly 5K Tickets In Statewide Weekend Detail
ARMONK, N.Y. – The New York State Police issued almost 5,000 tickets during a 34-hour detail starting Feb. 6 and ending on Super Bowl Sunday.
From 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 until midnight Monday, Feb. 8, police issued 4,686 tickets in total during the detail, over three times as much as 2015's Super Bowl weekend detail.
Over 150 accidents were investigated, with 29 injuries but no fatalities.
Just over 90 arrests were made for driving while intoxicated, and 1,772 speeding tickets were issued.
Emily Kania, 90, Of Bergenfield
BERGENFIELD, N.J. – Emily Kania (nee Gerstenkorn) of Bergenfield and formerly of Teaneck died Thursday, Feb. 11. She was 90.
Kania worked for as an administrative assistant at the Bank of New York on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
She was predeceased by her husband, John; a daughter, Diane; a brother; Emil Gerstenkorn; and two sisters, Elsie and Margaret.
Kania is survived by two daughters, Celeste Muller and her husband Bill, and Yvonne Wolman and her husband Alec; and four grandchildren.
