Man Hit By SUV In New Rochelle NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A man suffered a serious head injury early Monday morning when he was hit by an SUV in New Rochelle, according to LoHud.com. Putnam Groups Urge Parents To Be Aware Of Teen-Dating Violence PUTNAM, N.Y. – February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, and the Putnam Communities That Care (CTC) Coalition and the Putnam/Northern Westchester Women's Resource Center have some tips for parents looking to prevent dating violence and abuse. Police Dish Out Nearly 5K Tickets In Statewide Weekend Detail ARMONK, N.Y. – The New York State Police issued almost 5,000 tickets during a 34-hour detail starting Feb. 6 and ending on Super Bowl Sunday. From 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 until midnight Monday, Feb. 8, police issued 4,686 tickets in total during the detail, over three times as much as 2015's Super Bowl weekend detail. Over 150 accidents were investigated, with 29 injuries but no fatalities. Just over 90 arrests were made for driving while intoxicated, and 1,772 speeding tickets were issued.

Ramapo Police Resolve Domestic Dispute As Part Of Busy Saturday RAMAPO, N.J. – Ramapo police had a busy Saturday, including an early-morning domestic dispute on East Hickory Street. A call came in from a Hillcrest resident reporting that he heard a woman screaming about 12:15 a.m., and when officers checked the area, they found out about a dispute between a man and a woman, who had left the area, police said. The 26-year old woman was eventually found and charged with third-degree criminal mischief after breaking numerous windows, police said. One Killed In Morning Crash In Yonkers YONKERS, N.Y. – Yonkers police said one person was killed in an early Sunday morning car crash on Palmer Road, according to News 12. The accident happened about 2:30 a.m. when a car collided with a firetruck, News 12 said. The victim was reportedly dead upon the arrival of emergency crews, reported News 12. Trooper Rescues Dog That Falls Into Icy Somers Pond SOMERS, N.Y. – A state trooper rescued a dog that had fallen into a partially frozen pond in Somers on Saturday afternoon. The owner of a yellow lab named Shelby contacted police after the dog fell into a pond behind John F. Kennedy Catholic High School on Route 138 around 12:15 p.m. Saturday. Trooper Christopher Spallone was able to walk out on the ice and rescue Shelby, but fell into the water himself when the ice broke as he was returning to the shoreline. Motorist Crashes Into Hole After Driving Around Barrier In Rockland RAMAPO, N.J. – An adventurous driver tried to drive around workers who had set up barriers and cones in Ramapo Saturday morning and ended up in a ditch for their trouble. The incident happened around 6 a.m. on Saddle River Road, where a water main break had occurred and roads were closed. After the accident, Ramapo police issued the driver multiple traffic tickets.

Emily Kania, 90, Of Bergenfield BERGENFIELD, N.J. – Emily Kania (nee Gerstenkorn) of Bergenfield and formerly of Teaneck died Thursday, Feb. 11. She was 90. Kania worked for as an administrative assistant at the Bank of New York on Fifth Avenue in New York City. She was predeceased by her husband, John; a daughter, Diane; a brother; Emil Gerstenkorn; and two sisters, Elsie and Margaret. Kania is survived by two daughters, Celeste Muller and her husband Bill, and Yvonne Wolman and her husband Alec; and four grandchildren.
