Eastchester Music Boosters Need Volunteers
EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – The Eastchester Music Boosters will have a general membership meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the middle school cafeteria, 550 White Plains Road. Refreshments will be shared, and people can learn about upcoming ideas and help come up with new concepts. Con Edison Tree Work Tops Briarcliff Village Manager's Report
BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. – Briarcliff Manor Village Manager Philip Zegarelli recently released the following information: Many people have been visited by Con Edison’s contractor about its plan to take down hundreds of trees where power lines are potentially at jeopardy due to future storms. Brookfield Doctor Fined Over Late Diagnosis, Death Of Bethel Patient
BROOKFIELD, Conn. – Danbury Hospital heart doctor Robert Jarrett was hit with a $4,000 fine Tuesday and had his medical license put on probation for three months, newtimes.com reports. The physician, who has offices on Osborne Street in Danbury and on Old New Milford Road in Brookfield, was fined by the Connecticut Medical Examining Board, the article says. Elmwood Park Students Raise $500 For Breast Cancer Research
ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. -- Students and staff of St. Leo's School in Elmwood helped the fight against breast cancer by wearing pink and raising money. Together, they raised $500 for the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute (BCPI). Founded in 1999 by a scientist and three physicians, BCPI aims to educate women and medical professionals about breast cancer prevention.

Yorktown Police Warn Of IRS Scam
YORKTOWN, N.Y. – A phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, has been making the rounds throughout the country, according to Yorktown police. Callers claim to be employees of the IRS but are not. Police say these con artists can sound convincing when they call, using fake names and IRS identification badge numbers. They may know a lot about their targets, and they usually alter the caller ID to make it look like the IRS is calling. Man Charged With Shoplifting From Southeast Home Depot
PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. – Andrew M. DePalma, 27, of Danbury, Conn. was charged Oct. 17 with shoplifting at the Home Depot in Southeast, officials said. Putnam County Sheriff’s Department responded to the store on reports of a shoplifter who had been detained by store loss prevention personnel. DePalma was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500 cash bail. If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, he faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
