Four New Buses Added To Transport Of Rockland Fleet
CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Four new buses are now in service in Rockland County's Transport of Rockland (TOR) fleet. The total cost for the purchase of the four buses, related equipment and warranties is approximately $1.5 million, County Executive Ed Day announced. No Rockland County tax dollars were used to purchase the vehicles. The bus purchase was made using 80 percent Federal Transit Administration funds, 10 percent New York State Department of Transportation dollars and 10 percent local transportation funds. The film, starring Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds, is based on the true story of the late Maria Altmann, an elderly Jewish refugee living in Los Angeles, who fought the government of Austria for almost a decade to reclaim Gustav Klimt's iconic painting of her aunt, "Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I," which was stolen from her relatives by the Nazis. Stamford Hedge Fund Loses $40 Million In A Month
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Spruce Alpha, a small, Stamford, Conn. hedge fund that’s part of a larger investment group, lost almost $40 million in a month, businessinsider.com reports. The $80 million fund lost 48 percent in the month of August, making it the worst performer by far during a month that saw steep losses, according to businessinsider.com. MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- Grace Darling Imray, of Valhalla, died Oct. 10. She was 88. Born in Quincy, Mass., she earned a B.A. in women's studies at the age of 62. She went on to get her M.A. in psychology in 2004 at the age of 78. She was a homemaker for much of her life. For many years, she co-chaired a women's cancer group, as she was a cancer survivor. She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Claudia and Robert Sandy of East Hartland Conn., Robin Imray and Russell Wellen of Tarrytown and Alison Murphy-Siebrecht and Irving Siebrecht of Tarrytown and Brewster. Greenwich Fugitive Accused Of Stealing $65M From Norwalk Firm
GREENWICH, Conn. – A wealthy, connected Harvard-educated Indian-American is now a federal fugitive, believed by financial regulators to have stolen $65 million from his employer, reports the wallstreetjournal.com. According to the story, Iftikar Ahmed, 43, started skimming money from the prestigious venture capital firm Oak Investment Partners in Norwalk after he was hired in 2004.
