FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- A presentation, “Wildlife Education: Coyotes in Connecticut,” takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road. Frank Vincente, of the Wild Dog Foundation, will discuss how coyotes can benefit our suburban ecology. Learn from this nonprofit wildlife education group how to act during an encounter with a coyote and how we may be unwittingly enticing these animals into our neighborhoods. RYE, N.Y. – After a tumultuous few years battling threats of being shut down, the Rye Smoke Shop is still operating without a lease. Greenburgh Council Will Vote On Butterfly Arbor For Nature Center
GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The Greenburgh Nature Center has asked the Town Board to approve a resolution Wednesday authorizing the tax-free construction of a butterfly arbor at the center. The Town Board is expected to approve the request at its Wednesday night meeting. Private donations, not taxpayer dollars, will be used to pay for this enhancement. The nature center, a 33-acre preserve on Dromore Road off Central Avenue, with trails, a pond, gardens and a native plant meadow, serves about 80,000 visitors annually and sponsors numerous environmental education programs and after school events. …
