Stamford's Avon Theatre Presents Screening Of 'Food Chains'
STAMFORD, Conn. – A screening of Food Chains takes place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14 at the Avon Theatre Film Center, 272 Bedford St., Stamford. The special event is co-presented by Neighbors Link Stamford and DOMUS Kids, and explores the human cost in the food supply. This documentary carries a call to action for viewers to eradicate abuse in their supply chains. Ticket prices are Carte Blanche Members, free; members, $7; students and seniors, $9; nonmembers, $12. Waldwick School Of Rock Hosts Halloween Costume Drive
WALDWICK, N.J. -- The Waldwick School of Rock is seeking new or gently used kid-friendly costumes to donate to Children's Aid & Family Services. Children and teen sizes are needed. They also are seeking donations of trick-or-treat bags. A collection bin is now set up at the Waldwick School of Rock, 152 Franklin Tpke. Poughkeepsie Man Charged With Felony Drug Possession
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – John O. Cummings, a 48-year-old parolee living on North Clinton Street, was arrested and charged with felony drug possession Oct. 10 after a search warrant turned up heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana, poughkeepsiejournal.com reports. Giuseppe Friscia, 97, Of Yonkers
YONKERS, N.Y. -- Giuseppe Friscia of Yonkers died Oct. 11. He was 97. He is survived by his wife Agata Tornambe Friscia; son Alfonso Friscia; daughter Rosella and her husband Luigi Martone; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his sister Pellegrina Friscia. He was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters. Arrangements will be at Flower Funeral Home Inc., 714 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, with visitation from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a funeral Mass at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Church with entombment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich, Conn.
