WAYNE, N.J. – A Household Hazardous Waste Collection event for Passaic County Residents is planned from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, at the Para-transit Facility Parking Lot, 1310 Route 23 North, Wayne, rain or shine. Norwalk Offers Firewood To Residents At A Reduced Rate
NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk residents can purchase firewood that is split and seasoned at a reduced rate. The city currently accepts and pays to dispose of a tremendous amount of usable hardwoods. Starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, Norwalk residents can visit the city of Norwalk website and purchase a $75 firewood voucher good for 175 pieces of wood, or about a half cord. This voucher, a matching photo ID and a resident pass then must be presented at the DPW Yard Debris Site,15 S. Smith St., for self-loaded pickup. PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The Rotary Club of Peekskill will host its 45th Annual Horse Show and Country Fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday. The event will be at the Blue Mountain Reservation, on Welcher Avenue off Route 9 in Peekskill. Admission and parking are free and the show will go on rain or shine. OSSINING, N.Y. – The second annual Westchester Library System Battle of the Books will take place on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Ossining High School. This is a fast-paced trivia competition for avid readers in Grades Four through Nine. A total of 17 libraries, nearly half of the libraries in Westchester County, will participate. Man Faces Multiple Charges After Taconic Stop
EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. -- Timothy B. Mackey, 56, of Fishkill, was arrested Sept. 25 for allegedly being in possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated. He was stopped by New York State police on Interstate 84 for allegedly speeding on the Taconic State Parkway, police said. He was released on summonses and a court appearance.

STAMFORD, Conn. – A community flea market is planned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 3 at Northeast Elementary School, 82 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford. The event is held by the Northeast Parent Teacher Organization (NEPTO), a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization that raises funds to support academic and enrichment programs for students in kindergarten through 5th grade.
