CARMEL, N.Y. – Happy birthday To Carmel's Ryan Kelly.
Kelly, a Carmel native, turns 25 Saturday.
Kelly, a professional basketball player currently with the Los Angeles Lakers organization, was born April 9, 1991.
After four years at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, N.C., earning McDonald's All-American honors, Kelly played four years at Duke University, helping the Blue Devils win the NCAA title in 2010 and placing on the ACC All-Academic Team all four years. Since graduation in 2013, he has played for the Los Angeles Lakers and their D-League affiliate, the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
Vito J. Ruggiero, 91, Of Norwalk
NORWALK, Conn. – Vito J. Ruggiero (also known as Johnny Rogers), of Norwalk, died on Wednesday, April 6. He was 91.
Ruggiero was born on Feb. 20, 1925, in Norwalk to Luigi and Marianna Ruggiero, attending Norwalk High School and serving in the Army.
He worked as a self-employed general contractor, and was an active volunteer in the Norwalk community, spending many years working with the South Norwalk Boat Club and local Little League Baseball.

Alvin G. Farans, 88, Of Westport
WESTPORT, Conn. – Alvin G. Farans, of Westport, died on Wednesday, April 6. He was 88.
Farans was born on Jan 22, 1928, in Norwalk to William and Mildred Farans.
He graduated from Lehigh University and serving in the Navy during the Korean War.
After his service, he worked for the Pennsylvania Petroleum Company.
He is survived by two daughters, Danielle Finke of Ridgefield, and Claudia Morse of New York City and five grandchildren.
Farans was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and Neil, and his sister Diane.

Dad Pleads Not Guilty To Charges In Kidnapping Of His Son In Trumbull
TRUMBULL, Conn. – A Queens man accused of kidnapping his 7-year-old son from the bedroom of his Trumbull home last month pleaded not guilty to multiple charges in court on Tuesday, according to the Connecticut Post.
Rodolfo Revello, 43, pleaded not guilty to second-degree kidnapping, second-degree larceny, violating a protective order, second-degree strangulation, second-degree assault, threatening criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, the Connecticut Post said.

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Frederico Berent "Dico" Kowarick of Bronxville died Sunday, April 3.
Kowarick was born in San Paulo, Brazil, to Anita and Alberto. He graduated from Roger Williams University and had a long career with Solid Independent Advisors LLC.
He was predeceased by his father. He is survived by his wife, Mary (nee Bischel); three children, Berent, Peter and Felix; and siblings Monica, Ricardo and Cristina.

Kathryn Dubin, 97, Of Trumbull
TRUMBULL, Conn. – Kathryn P. (nee Winters) Dubin, of Trumbull, died on April 2 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly. She was 97.
Dubin was born in West Hazelton, Pa., moving to New Jersey in 1941 and working for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company Long Lines as a supervisor, instructor and supervisor of teletype.
She moved to Trumbull in 1963, working at Sears in Bridgeport as a teletype and phone operator.
Dubin also worked for Maefair Health Centers, the Jewish Home for the Elderly and St. Joseph's Manor.

Stanley Tatarynowicz, Sr., 88, Of Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Stanley Tatarynowicz, Sr., of Bridgeport, died on April 1. He was 88.
Tatarynowicz was born in Poland, serving in the English Army during World War II.
He eventually moved to the United States, settling in Bridgeport and becoming a foreman for Jenkins Valves until retiring.
Tatarynowicz also served as an Eucharist Minister at St. Ann Church in Bridgeport.
