Cliffside Prepares Area Residents To Help Prevent Fires
EDGEWATER, N.J. -- McDonald's of Edgewater and the East Bergen Firemen's Mutual Aid Association are having a fire safety event for area residents at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Edgewater Commons, 549 River Road. In case of rain, the event will be Thursday. The event will include discussions on how smoke and carbon monoxide detectors save lives, how to create emergency plans in the home, a visit from the Fort Lee Fire Safety House members and their trailer and equipment and vehicle demonstrations. There also is an opportunity to meet Ronald McDonald.

No Injuries In Clifton After Assailants Robbed Businesses at Gunpoint
CLIFTON, N.J. – City police said there were no injuries after assailants robbed two businesses at gunpoint Tuesday and Wednesday morning, nj.com reported. Detective Sgt. Robert Bracken said three men robbed a cashier at Paulison Liquors on Paulison Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. The paper reported a handgun was used and the assailants fled with an unspecified amount of cash. Yorktown Man Issued Summons After His Dog Allegedly Attacks Another Dog
This story has been updated. YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Marvin Medow, 62, of Yorktown was issued a summons for allegedly allowing his dog to run at large, Yorktown Police said. According to police, a call was received from a female resident of Ferncrest Drive on Sept. 30 at 8:11 a.m. reporting that while walking her dog on her street, a Golden Retriever breed dog running at large allegedly attacked her dog, causing no injury. Italian Dinner Hosted By Franklin Lakes-Oakland Rotary
OAKLAND, N.J. — The Oakland-Franklin Lakes Rotary Club is having a “Mambo Italiano” dinner dance on Oct. 23. The Italian dinner and dessert buffet includes music and dancing, a 50/50 raffle and a tricky tray. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Developers for the massive American Dream mall and entertainment project on Route 3 West in East Rutherford has announced new tenants for the long-stalled development that is now set to open by late summer 2017, njadvancedmedia.com reports. NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Happy birthday to New Rochelle's Don McLean! McLean, a singer and songwriter, turns 70 on Friday. McLean, who was born Oct. 2, 1945, in New Rochelle, is most famous for the 1971 album and song "American Pie." McLean was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004, and in 2012 he won the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Lifetime Achievement award.
