Get Ready For Fall Fest At Bergenfield's South Church BERGENFIELD, N.J. — South Presbyterian Church is hosting its annual Fall Festival Oct. 17. Lunch, dessert and coffee will be available in the historic Leiby Lounge, and there will be activities for children, like the bouncy house, ring toss and bean bag throw and face painting.  Handcrafted seasonal items will be sold, along with homemade baked goods, jams and a variety of prepared soups and entrees. Bloomingdale Council Pressed About Quarry Expansion BLOOMINGDALE, N.J. -- The Bloomingdale mayor and council said they need more information before they can move forward on a proposal to expand quarry operations on Federal Hill, northjersey.com reported.  The council is waiting on reports from experts hired to determine the economic, demographic and fiscal impacts of Tilcon's expansion proposal.  Bloomingdale Mayor Jonathan Dunleavy said the borough has been discussing the Meer Tract site with Tilcon for almost three years.  See northjersey.com for the full story.

There's Still Room For Fair Lawn Fire Co. 3's Golf Event FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Fire Company No. 3 in Fair Lawn will host its annual golf outing Friday at the Paramus Golf Course, 314 Paramus Road, Paramus. Registration and lunch is at 11 a.m. followed by a noon shotgun start. There will be a modified scramble format, then everyone tees off, selects the best drive and then plays their own ball from there. Cocktails and open bar begin at 5:30 at the American Legion, 17-08 River Road, Fair Lawn, followed by a 6:30 p.m. steak dinner and raffles.

Hillsdale Will Vote On Banning Under-21 Tobacco Sales HILLSDALE, N.J. -- The Hillsdale Borough Council is expected to vote Oct. 6 on whether to adopt an ordinance that bans the purchase of tobacco to people ages 21 and over, according to northjersey.com.  If passed, Hillsdale will join Englewood, East Rutherford, Teaneck, Bogota and Westwood, which already have passed similar ordinances. Check-in time is from 7:45-8:45 a.m. at Benjamin Franklin Middle School, 335 N. Van Dien Ave, Ridgewood. The 4-mile run starts at 9 a.m. and starts and ends at the school.
